General
Character Name: The Doctor, formerly Theta Sigma, formerly something long and ostentatious, I’m sure.
Species (human/alien/vampire/other?): Gallifreyan/Time Lord
Extra-human/abnormal abilities, if any?: The Doctor, like all members of her race, is graced with certain psionic abilities. Although she doesn’t use it often because it’s kind of unethical, she can get into unshielded minds and poke around a bit (see: Ten and everyone ever), overwrite their objections to her doing whatever she wants (hello, Seven, and here I am thinking offhandedly of the Daleks episode), or even misplace some of their memories (Three actually did this in her audio). Conversely, she can shield her own mind from invasion, and often has certain default safeguards set in place – you never know who might try to wander if you don’t. (We’re looking at you, Ten.) Also, despite New Who’s tendency towards touchy-feely Doctors, it should be noted she doesn’t require physical contact to initiate this. Time Lords, as a race, also seem to be capable of sensing the flow of Time (and, presumably, their perception of it, and here I am thinking of Nine in The End of the World).
Physically, again, the Doctor has an edge on humans. Her body temperature is considerably lower than humans (about fifteen degrees Celsius) (though it’s a fair bet that her surface temperature is close enough to a human’s, since people don’t recoil or ever bring this up, basically). She has a respiratory bypass system which allows her to go without air for extended periods of time; in addition, she should be able to stop her hearts and restart them at will, though she may or may not be capable. She doesn’t need much sleep, and probably not as much food, and certain types of radiation are ineffectual on her. If she dies, she’ll regenerate a new body (and personality), thus extending her life; and she is either exempt from the aging process in each body, or it takes a very long time to catch up with her. (Like a scale of one visible year to every fifty, or something. Don’t hold me to that, one-to-fifty is just an example ratio and canon isn’t even conclusive on that topic.)
Psychology
1. Is it okay for your character's thoughts to be read/their mind to be probed? Her mind can be probed, and even successfully – but it would require a lot of effort and getting through her defenses and probably Horrifying Faces. So overall it’s best if you check with me first.
2. Is it okay for any of your character’s intense/distressing memories to be seen/heard/read in this situation? See previous answer re: checking with me.
3. What kind of mind does your character have? Are they disturbed at all? Are their thoughts ordered or jumbled? …The Doctor’s mind is probably like the brain equivalent of an Escher painting, like the one with all the stairs and doors going everywhere. Except in like, five dimensions or something.
4. Is it okay for your character’s emotions to be sensed? Very vaguely (probably it’d be easier and more effective to just read her expression like the rest of the universe), but sort of ish.
5. Does your character have a weak or strong mind? Are they susceptible to influence or hypnotism? It’s fairly strong, as Time Lords’ usually are. And, you know, defenses! They’re not her absolute strong point, but she’s good enough.
6. Does your character have supernatural/mental fortification against mind-reading or telepathic communication? why yes, yes she does.
7. In the case of characters who are extra-sentient/psychic and can just 'know' things about people, can the muns of these characters use the powers of Wikipedia to get information about your character? That… depends on how their powers work, really. Maaaaaybe reeeeally vaguely, she said tentatively. Really, it’s best to check with me.
8. If so, is there anything that should absolutely never ever be brought up? It might be best not to bring up her death or alcohol. Or shopping trolleys. She hates shopping trolleys.
9. Anything that should absolutely be brought up? ADVENTURE!!!
10. Will thoughts in the narration be up for grabs? If so, how will you indicate these? Italics/strikes/something else? Usually I just… write them in. I usually use third person subjective limited, though if I’m feeling silly or whatever I’ll sneak my thoughts into the narration. But yes.
11. Does your character have any fears/phobias that you wouldn't mind being exploited? Ones that you'd like to NOT be exploited? That’s… um. Tricky. Three has Issues, and also alcoholism she’s Avoiding. So. Um. Yeah.
Physiology
1. Is it okay for your character to be affected by chemical agents? Fear toxins, for example? Quite likely, yes!
2. Does your character have any unique biological difference that would affect their resistance to toxins/chemical substances? She might be able to flush it out of her system, especially with the right chemical triggers (cough that one scene where Ten counteracted poison by being ridiculous cough).
3. Does your character have any notable genetic/supernatural/biological difference that would make their blood in any way different to a regular baseline human's (that would make them taste different if they were fed on by a vampire, for example)? Very likely, yes, though what it would taste like I don’t really know. Maybe like a really aged wine. :|a
Physical
1. How okay are you with your character coming to physical harm? I’m cool with attempted harm as long as I have leeway to decide what happens (your character can throw a punch, but it’s up to me if she ducks, etc.), but really I find physical altercations are uuuusually best done with OOC communication in advance/during.
2. How okay are you with your character's home/possessions being targeted by bad guys? NOT THE TARDIS!!!!! DDDD: Um, ask me first.
3. Can your character be impacted by telekinesis? Yes. Yes, she can.
4. With regard to vampires, would your character be willing to be a donor? Um. Probably not, no. Vampire are kind of a Thing with Time Lords, ish. Maybe. Canon is weird.
5. If no, then how about unwilling? >> Mmmmmmmmaybe. Talk to me first.
6. With regard to shapeshifters, are you okay with having those with this power taking the shape of your character? Sure, why not.
7. If your character has any superhuman abilities, would you be okay with these being replicated by those who have the power to absorb/take on the powers of others? ROGUE IS THAT YOU? That’s a bit tricky, though.
8. In a physical confrontation, is it okay if characters who have the power to sense/foresee/predict movements use this to their advantage against your character? That would make sense! Unless they’re blocked by her brain wall thing. Which they might be, depending on how the power works.
9. Are you willing to participate in plots where your character will sustain damage outside of a fight, such as in situations with torture, environmental hazards, or accidents? I am a horrible person to my pups, generally. So yes.
10. Is there anything about them that would stand out noticeably (things like scars, physical augmentations, illness, anomalies, etc.) if they were ever injured or otherwise examined by a doctor? Are any of these things noticeable to others without close inspection? SHE’S A GIRL! …Aside from that, not really. Except for the two hearts thing. Yes.
Magics
1. Can your character be influenced and tempted by magical or supernatural means? Um. Sure! Ish. You could try, anyway.
2. If yes, will someone with the ability be able to find this out about them, and in what areas (think the seven deadly sins) can your character be tempted? Depends on how the power works, see: psychic defenses.
3. Could your character be glamoured (a form of mind control employed by vampires to make humans compliant/alter their memories etc.)? Depends on how the power works, see: psychic defenses.
4. Can your character be effected by spells of any kind, and are there any specific types to which they would be immune? Depends on how the power works, see: psychic defenses.
5. Can your character's presence be sensed by characters with the power to read auras/pick up generalized vibes from people? Depends on how the power works, see: psychic defenses.
6. If yes, what kind of stand-out things about your character can be sensed? Depends on how the power works, see: psychic defenses.
7. With regard to characters that can sense danger/receive visions/predict general doom, are you okay with your character being the subject of any of this, if the occasion arises? SPIDEY SENSE!!!! But that actually happens in Doctor Who, so sure!
Privacy
1. Will your character change their name as it is shown on the map? If so, what will they change it to? She is the Doctor yay.
2. If they’re able, will they ever opt to hide their location on the map? Maybe, depending on the circumstances. Overall, I think she keeps it up because she has a habit of moving the TARDIS around a lot.
3. If your character is from an earlier point in their canon than another member of your cast, what is and is not okay for your fellow castmate to spill the beans about regarding your character’s future? They could, I guess. Though it’s not necessarily her future because of AU.
4. With regard to characters that like to snoop, can they find anything that's been publicly said by your character through the tablets? Probably!
5. How about privately? Probably not!
6. Is there anything you'd especially like to be known about your character, for the purposes of amusement? SHE WEARS WOMEN’S UNDERWEAR oh wait.
7. Anything you especially don't? Not really.
8 Do you like threadhopping (a character not already in a thread jumping in unexpectedly to reply to a comment), and are you okay with other people threadhopping in your threads and posts? Baaaaasically as long as you use your judgment about it (don’t hop into overly personal conversations, etc.) then sure!
